We organized an activity called “The Wall of Pain”, an open space where participants could write down the main challenges they face in their credit processes. What we discovered was as revealing as it was inspiring.

What hurts in the credit process

The responses naturally fell into three main stages: application, approval, and follow-up.

💡 In the credit application, the challenges revolved around the user experience:

• The difficulty of attracting young people to financial products that are perceived as traditional.
• The frustration of advisors and customers with endless paperwork.
• The lack of effective communication between advisor and customer during the application process.
• Connectivity issues, especially in rural areas where cooperatives have a strong presence.
• And something that concerned us all: the decline in credit applications due to the complexity of the process.

⚙️ In the approval stage, the recurring theme was slowness:

• Approval times are too long, affecting members’ perception of agility and trust.

📊 During the follow-up, other important challenges emerged:

• Information in legal portfolios that is difficult to trace.
• Growing delinquent portfolio.
• Need to strengthen the recovery process and have more robust monitoring tools.

These “pain points” are not just areas for improvement: they are an X-ray of an industry that needs to evolve toward simpler, more digital, and more human processes.

After listening to all the experiences, it was time to propose solutions. And that’s where Smart Road took center stage.
